Untranslate’s Academic Expertise

Untranslate maintains close relations with academic and educational communities. Our managing partner, Nathalie De Sutter, is not only a lecturer, she’s also the coordinator of the postgraduate programme in Translation Technology at KU Leuven. And every one of our language experts has a strong academic background. That is why colleges and universities regularly call on our expertise. We are proud of these partnerships, so it is time to put them in the spotlight.

Multilingual communication for Karel de Grote Hogeschool

With over 14,000 students and around 1,500 staff members, it is hardly surprising that there are 133 different nationalities on the Karel de Grote Hogeschool campus. In addition, the university of applied sciences and arts also collaborates with a large number of partners abroad. So, to ensure smooth communication between KdG and its students, staff and partners, the university of applied sciences and arts appointed Untranslate as its permanent language partner in 2022. From guidelines regarding the online exam environment, to web pages designed to encourage partners to collaborate and programme-specific learning outcomes … Our translators ensure that the message comes across loud and clear.

To measure is to know

It’s a saying as solid as a rock. Research is not only important to understand the world, it’s also important to guide policy and to make informed decisions. That is why Untranslate is proud to help university researchers overcome the multilingual challenges they face. As a long-standing partner of Ghent University, Untranslate has, for example, provided professional translations, voice-overs and transcriptions for both the AMICA project and the MATIAS project.

Multidisciplinary

Vrije Universiteit Brussel also regularly requires Untranslate’s multilingual expertise in the context of their research projects. For example, in the context of the MATCHeN project, we are using our linguistic expertise to support healthcare professionals in their communication with newcomers who speak other languages. We also delivered professionally subtitled videos for the MHEALTH4ALL project. These are some examples that highlight our team’s multidisciplinary skills. We are well acquainted with both the medical and the academic sector.

For and about education

We do not limit our skills and expertise to collaborations with our partners in the academic sector. Thanks to our expertise, Untranslate is also the ideal partner for all content about education. Leerpunt knew that. The organisation entrusted us with the translation of a series of documents with scientific insights for education. The assignment was to translate these texts full of education-specific terminology from English to Dutch. A tight deadline and a text peppered with specialised terminology didn’t put the Untranslate team off – quite the opposite! We were eager to get started and could always draw on Nathalie’s experience as an expert.
